Generator (2014/2017)

June 17, 2016 – January 7, 2018
Tuesday through Sunday from 12:00 – 21:00
Admission is free. No tickets or pre-booking.

Presented at PinchukArtCentre, Kyiv, curated by Bjorn Geldhof, artistic director of the PinchukArtCentre.

As part of the new exhibition Fragile State, the PinchukArtCentre collaborates with MAI to present new iteration of Marina Abramovic’s Generator (2014/2017). In this work, Abramovic invites the public to experience their body, their mind, and the space surrounding them, completely deprived of any hearing or sight. The experience brings the notion of Fragile State onto the viewer’s body and mind, placing them in a position of vulnerability while concentrating on a central notion in Abramovic’s work: “nothingness”. As she said: “The hardest thing is to do something which is close to nothing.” This work was originally created at Sean Kelly Gallery, New York.

The Cleaner
June 17, 2017 – October 22, 2017
Tuesday – Friday from 11:00 – 22:00 | Saturday – Sunday from 11-18
Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebæk, Denmark

Reperformance: Imponderabilia
The exhibition sees a daily reperformance of Ulay and Marina Abramovićs work Imponderabilia from 1977. The performers have been trained in Marina Abramović’s Cleaning the House in a five-day workshop led by collaborator Lynsey Peisinger.

Mutual Gaze
The Mutual Gaze is one of a series of public participatory exercises that comprises the Abramovic Method. Within the exhibition, visitors will be invited to participate in the exercise, to connect with oneself and with each other.

Abramovic Method for Treasures
June 21, 2017 – March 21, 2020
The exhibition allows only a limited number of visitors at a time.
All visitors must pre-book specific time slots.
Presented at The Royal Library of Denmark, Copenhagen

Drawing from sources such as the letters of Kierkegaard, Saxo’s chronicles of Danish history, and the observations of Tycho Brahe, Abramović has created an immersive total installation that includes a range of rituals, audio installation and specially designed spaces for human experience.

The Cleaner marks Marina Abramovic’s first major retrospective in Europe, which ran from February 18 – May 21, 2017 at Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Sweden. This exhibition travels to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, Denmark (June 16 – October 22, 2017), Hennie Osted Kunstsenter (November 24, 2017 – March 11, 2018), Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn, Germany (April 20 – August 12, 2018), and Palazzo Strozzi (September 21, 2018 – January 19, 2019).
