1. In your opinion what is the role of a museum?

A museum should be a place of discovery, of contemplation and of inspiration. It should be aspirational yet approachable. It should be affordable to the masses.

2.What are your favorite museums in the world? Why?

I usually try to visit The Metropolitan Museum when I’m in New York City, it’s a treasure trove. I love The Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas, especially the long, lonely journey to get there. And I really value The Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, AZ, especially for their photo book library.

3.How important are social networks in your business? And which platform do you prefer and why.

I see social media as a necessary evil. I use Facebook for timely information on galleries, museums, performances and musical events. I use Instagram to share my own work in progress and to get inspired by other artists. I stay away from Twitter like the plague.

4.To create greater engagement among museums, artists and professionals, do you have any advice for cultural projects such as #MuseumWeek?

Free events for the public, accessibility for marginalized and under-served audiences. Casual public forums for conversations between artists, curators and the public. More exhibition opportunities for emerging artists.
